Helping People Do "Real Work"
The Real Work is teaching the child, healing the patient, selling the house, logging the road defects, fixing the car at the roadside, capturing the table’s order, designing the house and organising the party.from Future Shock
Most of us use software as a tool to reach goals that exist outside the software. Good design makes the experience of using the software disappear and allows the person using it to focus on the "real work."
About Allison Beckwith
Allison, our Chief Design Strategiest and Partner, has been designing usable things for as long as she can remember. She wrote her first website, Allie’s in Wonderland, at the age of 14. At 16 she won the Independent Means National Young Women’s Business Plan competition for a customizable t-shirt website (and won again the next year for another website idea involving customizable products). Ten years later, Allison is still obsessed with crafting usable things, and takes great pleasure in creating a positive user experience. She also enjoys amassing more books than she will ever have time to read.
